Abstract

Non-formal Islamic educational institutions such as Taman Pendidikan Al-Qur’an (TPQ) play an essential role in early religious character building; however, their administrative processes are frequently hindered by conventional manual record-keeping. At TPQ At-Taqwa Tegal, student admissions and recurring monthly tuition (SPP) transactions were managed through paper forms and standalone spreadsheets, resulting in long registration queues, a high risk of data redundancy, physical document deterioration or loss, and delayed financial reporting. To resolve these issues, this study designs and implements a centralized web-based registration and tuition management information system utilizing the classical Waterfall Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) methodology. The development process encompasses comprehensive requirements engineering, object-oriented visual modeling with Unified Modeling Language (UML), including use case, activity, sequence, and class diagrams, alongside Entity-Relationship Diagrams (ERD) and Logical Record Structure (LRS) database modeling. The web application was constructed using PHP, HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and a MySQL relational database running on an Apache HTTP server. Functional evaluation through exhaustive Black Box testing across 18 core operational scenarios demonstrated a 100% pass rate with zero defect occurrences, validating robust input validation, role-based access control for administrators and students, and reliable payment logging. The implementation eliminates physical paperwork bottlenecks, accelerates student record retrieval, guarantees relational data integrity, and improves operational transparency. This digital transformation provides a scalable blueprint for non-formal educational institutions seeking efficient computerized management.
