Islamic boarding schools (pesantren) face unique administrative challenges in managing students' daily cash allowances, often leading to unmonitored expenditures, cash loss risks, and an inability to provide transparent financial records to parents. To address these problems, this study developed EMTREN (E-Money Pesantren), a centralized web-based electronic transaction management system engineered using the classical Waterfall software development lifecycle. System workflows and database architectures were formally designed using Unified Modeling Language (UML) diagrams, comprising use case, activity, sequence, and class diagrams, alongside Entity-Relationship Diagrams (ERD) and Logical Record Structures (LRS). The application was implemented using PHP, MySQL database, Apache web server, and responsive client-side technologies. EMTREN provides dedicated role-based portals for administrators and students (santri), facilitating secure balance top-ups, real-time balance inquiries, fund withdrawal requests, comprehensive transaction ledgers, and dynamic service charge management. Functional validation via black-box testing confirmed that all functional requirements performed reliably across varied input scenarios without logic failures. The implementation of EMTREN successfully transforms conventional cash-based transactions into an auditable, cashless, and transparent financial ecosystem, strengthening administrative accountability while providing parents and students with accountable expenditure tracking.
